Friday boasted glorious weather all day for fighting!  Pick-ups and instruction abounded across the fields, Knights from around the Known World took to the field to offer tips and techniques.

The highlight of the afternoon was the Drachenwald Knackebrod tournament.  In our sister kingdom across the sea they hold Double Wars in the Spring. The object of the war is to determine the proper side to butter the Swedish Crispbread. There is, of course, the flat side of the bread and the hole-y side.  Many theories abound as to the correct side—which holds butter better, how smoothly can toppings be distributed, and all manner of other persuasions to determine the proper side.  It is quite the passionate argument and it seems the entire Kingdom has an opinion on the matter.

This year, the Kingdom of Drachenwald introduced the greater Known World to the ongoing battle with a Ribbon Tourney to determine the winner.  As is right and proper, the hole-y side sponsored by Her Majesty won the day and took the victory.  While His Majesty still disagrees and vows that he is not defeated, his rematch will need to wait for another day as we will abide by Her Majesty’s side for the nonce.

In other news, Marshal’s Point is doing inspections for the majority of the day opening at 9am and running until 5 pm.  Come, get your armor inspected, and get ahead of the crowd.  This year we are attempting to be uniform across the Known World with the interpretation of “Contrasting blade and tip.”  If your sword has an edge marked, and your sword is, say, grey and black, then the tip needs to be a third color to be contrasting.  Yes, some kingdoms allow the edge and the tip to be the same contrasting color, but not all do and it is easier to mark the thrusting tip with contrasting tape than it is to ask people to learn a new way to determine the thrusting tip in the heat of battle.  Be kind to your opponent, let them be clearly aware that there is a tip.

Remember, talk to each other and ask about calibration and shots. We are all friends here and deserve to have an adult beverage with our opponents afterward.  Be Excellent to each other.
