Duchess Sir Elina of Beckenham, OL, OR, OP, KSCA

The rain and thunder threatened, but were no match for the collective will of the Heavy fighters taking the field for the Bridge Battles. As dawn graced the fields below Mount Eislinn, the results of the Battlefield coordination team could be seen with five bridges in the open field. The test of mettle for the day would be five rounds of five bridges. The battles went quick—15 minutes to a battle and 10 to 15 minutes between each of the five battles.

After the first two victories for the Midrealm, Darkyard fighters, led by Duke Sir Brannos moved a unit over to the East to help with numbers, some few did likewise to even sides. For the most part the fighting was fierce and fun. Long holds were eschewed to keep the fighting rolling along as safely as possible. Only one long medical hold occurred with only a minute left in the last battle. Most bridge fighters  took the time to meet their opponents and have a few laughs. Bridge five took a few minutes out for lightbulb jokes.

“How many Westerners does it take to change a lightbulb?” ( Why would we change the lightbulb? It’s been there for more than 50 years! It is a perfectly good lightbulb. If we want to read, we’ll do it in the day.)

“How many Eastern Knights does it take to change a lightbulb?” (None. That’s squires’ work!)

“How Midrealmers does it take to change a lightbulb?” (We don’t quite know yet. We haven’t finished forming the committee that will select the panel that will do the study that will build the spreadsheet that will the determine the schedule for changing the lightbulbs.)

“How many Calontiri does it take to change a lightbulb?” (500, but OHHH, the Ceremony!)

“How many Dukes does it take to change a lightbulb?” (One. He just holds it and the world revolves around him.)

After the medical hold, all points were tallied and the Mid took all five rounds. A special note, on one bridge, while the Mid took bridge one in the second round, they did not leave anyone on the bridge, not a soul. They had to record it as “no point” as there was no one at the contested point. So, just because you are not fighting doesn’t mean your job is not important.

Have a great time out there, drink water, and be excellent to each other!
