Barony of Flaming Gryphon members to wear subdued livery!
Pennsic XLI is going to be different from any Pennsic before it.
For the first time, the traditional opponents, the East Kingdom and the Middle Kingdom, will be fighting as allies, against Aethelmearc, in whose lands Pennsic lies, and Atlantia.
The alliances were announced at courts in the four kingdoms' on Saturday, Jan. 7.
Lady Fiadnata ó Gleann Àlainn describes this new feature for artisans and students at Pennsic War this year. The theme is:
A place to craft… A place to learn… A place to share…
Thanks to a monumental effort on the part of Her Royal Majesty of Aethelmearc, Tessa, and a team of Shadowclans members, the Pennsic Children’s Water Battle will take place!
The Water Battle will take place on a new date this year. Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 12 at 12:00 pm! Children should muster at noon and be prepared for battle starting at 12:30. Marshals should begin gathering at the Fort just before noon to collect whistles and insignia.
The economy and illness are attempting to take the Children’s Water Battle off the Pennsic schedule. Merriment is a hard thing to kill, though. Thanks to the efforts of Her Majesty of Aethelmearc, Tessa, the Pennsic Fort may still run wet with water this year.
Mistress Catherine Aimee Le Moyne, Pennsic University Chancellor, reports this sad news from the Shadow Clans. Shadow Clans is the household that originated and has sponsored the Pennsic Children's Water Battle for many years. (See related story at http://pennsicindependent.com/WaterBattle)
From Mistress Catherine:
I am very sorry to have to report that the Children's Water Battle at PW 39 has been canceled.
PI has decided to shift production dates as a result of changes in the Pennsic Marketplace dates. The Pennsic Marketplace dates have changed for Pennsic 39 (watch for an article on this news soon!). The new Marketplace dates are from Monday, August 2 until Friday, August 13.
All merchants must close by 11:00 pm on that Friday.
The owner of an obscure chain of medieval recreation hobbyist publications has purchased all the assets of media giant Gannett Inc. in an unsolicited, hostile takeover bid that included cash, letters of credit from half a dozen "kingdoms" in which she publishes, and an unspecified quantity of "chocolate Chaucers," apparently some kind of alcoholic beverage.
