Armored combatants assembled at the Woods Battle under cloudy skies yesterday morning. The 90-minute resurrection battle scenario is particularly challenging, with the armies racing over uneven terrain while trying to locate and keep control of three banners. The marshals conducted a banner check every half-hour. The East held all three banners at every check and ultimately took the War Point. It was a hard-fought battle that ended with a cooling rain. Unfortunately, that same rain caused the Rapier Woods Battle to be cancelled (War Point to the weather).

The early-morning Thrown Weapons War Point went to the Midrealm and the afternoon’s Combat Archery and Siege Engines Battle also was taken by the Middle Kingdom.

There are several Archery War Points this Pennsic, thus today the ranges will be closed to the public from 8 am to 3 pm as 30 archers from each army compete in a timed friend/foe shoot, a walk-up shoot, and a 10-station skill shoot. The populace Archery War Points can still be undertaken by anyone on Thursday from 11 am to 5 pm or Friday before 1 pm.

A different type of fighting occurs today as the children take over the Fort at 3 pm. The Annual Children’s Water Battle promises to be entertaining for children and parents alike, with a loud procession leading the children up to the battlefield. Everyone’s a winner for this battle!
