What do you do at 5 PM on Thursday of Peace Week? You wend your way to the Performing Arts Tent to see some of your favorite performers from across the Known World. This year we offer 57 performances and six Afternoon Series Expos where you can show up and perform.  Whether you enjoy Shakespeare, a rollicking bit of music, spine-tingling stories, comedy, or Commedia, we have you covered. Take a look at this year's season of fun. We're saving you a seat.

Thursday, August 3 • PERFORMING ARTS TENT

5:00 - Zsof and Tommaso Goes to War: For Pennsic 50, Zsof and Tommaso present an all-new Extravaganza of family-friendly music, theatre, and storytelling.

6:00 - Sweet Maple Singers Duet: These two bards will charm your senses and mystify your mind with their eclectic mix of folk songs.

7:00 - The Brendan Show: A Bardic Journey through four decades of the Modern Middle Ages.

8:00 - Dark Woods Ahead: Not all stories are about fairies and good luck. Lady Scholastica Joycors shares some dark tales from around the world.

9:00 - Dragon Song: Join us for a journey around the world, highlighting the fusion of music and dance from various cultures in the Middle Ages.

5:00 - Iron Commedia: Earlier this same day, a group of foolish players came together to craft, cast, and create a new sixteenth-century Commedia dell'Arte play!

6:30 - I Verdi Confusi- Peace Week Follies: The first week needs entertainment too! Join us for Commedia dell'Arte follies at the Amphitheatre!

 


Friday, August 4 — Performing Arts Tent

5:00 - The Pennsic Mightier: Improv Comedy Show: Enjoy our montage-style improv comedy show.

6:00 - Whose Cause is it Anyway: Improv comedy show for raising awareness of good causes!

7:00 - Adult Reader's Theater – The Reckoning: Script-in-hand performance of an original script titled The Reckoning by Master Lorcan Dracontius. This story is a re-imagining of Twelfth Night.

9:00 - Ruaidhri's Stories - Ruaidhri will rave for a while. There will be gratuitous singing and storytelling. If you wish to preserve your innocence...good luck.

 

Saturday, August 5 — Performing Arts Tent

5:00 - Jeu-Parti Party! Geoffrey, Siobhan, Harps, Voice: Join Geoffrey of Exeter and Siobhan the Harper for troubadour and troubadour-style duets and solos. Harps, voices, and joy!  

5:30 - Lady Melanie de la Tour: Period Songs and Airs: Period vocal performance with citole and mandolin. Medieval and Renaissance songs in English and French.

6:00 - Duke Moonwulf's Annual Pennsic Concert - A Pennsic tradition! Laugh, cry, and sing along with Moonwulf in his concert celebrating the 50th Pennsic!

7:00 - Geoffrey of Exeter's Medieval Atmosphere - Join me for a medieval journey with harp and voice. Some material may be inappropriate for children under 18.

8:00 - Pip and Wystle: Medieval Music and Ambiance - Efenwealt, Aenor, Pippin, and Friends provide an evening of medieval music, poetry, and ambiance focused on the 12-13th century.

9:30 - i Verdi Confusi - We're back for more Commedia dell’Arte hilarity!  This show contains Adult Themed Content.

 

Sunday, August 6 — Performing Arts Tent

2:00 - AFTERNOON SERIES: Shakespeare Open Mic - Come share your favorite piece from Shakespeare in this open mic experience.

4:00 - Thomas Bordeaux: Songs I've written, a few I didn't. Join me for an hour of bardic music.

5:00 - Songs of War, Struggle, and Wonder: Lanea will perform her translations, original works, and covers she adores and will likely press other bards into service.  Adult content.

6:00 - The Irish Frau - Aibhilin inghean Daibhidh - Aibhilin performs a mix of music for harp and voice, including period songs, SCA works, rousing SCA war songs, with a bit of humor thrown in.

7:00 - Surreptitious Whiskey: Dai, Líadan, Lucia, and Tonis return for another multi-instrumental, multi-vocal, multi-shenanigan extravaganza!

8:00 - Whiskey Bards: Have a rollicking good musical time with the Whiskey Bards' harmonies. The SCA's original "Medieval Boy Band!"

9:00 - Thórvé Sings Songs: Listen to Thórvé sing her songs, tell her stories, and sing her favorites by other artists.

9:30 -  i Sebastiani: Traditional 16th-cent Italian Commedia dell'Arte.  Some Material may be inappropriate for children under 12.

5:00 - Performing Arts Afternoon Series: The One-Act Experience. Where those in the class create a one-act show in a short time and then perform it.

Monday, August 7 — Performing Arts Tent

2:00 - Performing Arts Afternoon Series: Bardic Arts Exhibition –  Come tell your stories, sing songs, and see wonderful performances.

5:00 - Songs and Stories with Old Tom: Tommaso sings! He plays music! He tells stories! He does two at once! Period songs and stories for a tavern crowd. Family-friendly.

6:00 - 12th Annual Depressing Song Competition: A competition dedicated to giving sad songs, tales, etc., a chance to shine. Sign up at Moongate Designs or the PAT before the competition.

7:00 - St. Olga Story: The story of St Olga of Kyiv.

7:30 - The Debatable Choir: Medieval and Renaissance a cappella choral music.

8:00 - Not Your Typical Atlantian Thugs IV: Atlantia's performers are in the house, bringing stories, songs, and music for your entertainment.

9:30 - Cerian Cantwr, John Inchingham, & House Sans Nomen: Listen to the mad tunes and fantastic tales of Master Cerian Cantwr, Master John Inchingham the Fool, and their household.

6:00 - Efenwealt Wystle Sing Along: Let's laugh and sing together while we wait for Whose Line to start!

7:00 - Whose Line Doth It Be: The improv comedy competition where anything can happen. Audience members should bring seating.

4:30 - Middle Eastern & World Dance Expo: The Middle Eastern and World Dance Expo is a chance to share in our music and dance. All are welcome!

6:00 - Bed and Breakfast Do Bardic: Dai Gerdwr and Líadan Liathán sing of laughter, love, life, and death - in multiple languages!

7:00 - Drake Oranwood: Drake Oranwood returns joyfully to the Pennsic Performing Arts stage with talented friends to entertain you.

8:00 - Bardic Storm & Friends in Concert: Come see Bardic Storm perform favorites old and new at Pennsic, in concert, for the first time!

9:00 -  i Genesii -  Love! Greed! Overwhelming beauty! Underwhelming intelligence! The greatest Commedia dell'Arte troupe in the Known World does it again! Adult Audience 18+.

10:00 - The Foxy Bard - Musical shenanigans with The Foxy Bard and friends. Adult Audience 18+.

6:00 -  i Sebastiani! - Buon Giorno! O, you lucky people! Truly you are blessed amongst the living, for into your lives AGAIN has come i Sebastiani, the Greatest Commedia dell'Arte Troupe in the Entire World!

7:30 - In A Fool's Garden with John Inchingham: Master John Inchingham the Fool lampoons literature, mangles mythology, and hops haphazardly through history in family-friendly song and poetry.

 


Wednesday, August 9 — Performing Arts Tent

3:00 - Performing Arts Afternoon Series: Commedia Exhibition: Experience Commedia del'Arte! Meet the characters and the actors behind them and learn to act in a comic-masked style.

5:00 - Song Byrds: Join a group of bards from across the SCA singing beautiful period music together in full harmony!

6:00 - Trio Tramontana: Music for a Medieval Garden: Join us in the garden for a concert of 14th- and 15th-century music of nature: birds, bugs, and flowering things.

7:00 - Colette the Bard: Song Calls to Song: Join Colette for an evening of original songs from both their albums.

8:00 - John Inchingham and Friends – Join John as his friends drop by to share a song and a story or two.

9:00 - Bardic Concert: Marian of Heatherdale — Marian of Heatherdale (Heather Dale) is joined on stage by bards from around the Known World for a lively evening of song & story. Great for all ages.

5:00 - Nine is Fine: A Noyse of Musicians: A selection of music for nine-note instruments.

6:00 - Known World Recorder Ensemble - Recorder players of all abilities join together for a brief concert.

6:30 - Known World Choirs Performance - The Known World Adult, Children's, and Youth Choirs and Chorulus Pennsicus present a concert

8:00 - il Titolo Provvisorio - il Titolo Provvisorio's Pennsic Performance. Come see the lovers, fighters, and a plot everyone knows!

9:00 - Commedia All Stars - Commedia troupe of worldwide actors, only at Pennsic. Adult themes.

2:00 - Known World Players Open Auditions – The Reckoning

5:00 - Pennsic Youth Theater Performance: Come see the culmination of Youth Theater classes displaying these students' hard work and creativity.

6:00 - Pennsic Youth Commedia Performance: The final product of the hard work and dedication of the Youth Commedia students show their skills in this production.

8:00 - Known World Players: Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare. The Known World Players is proud to present Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Join us under the stars in the University courtyard for a memorable Pennsic 50 experience!
