Fifty years is not old.  FIFTY YEARS IS NOT OLD.  So says the Sequoia tree to the Galapagos turtle. To us, fifty is a big thing and worthy of a major celebration.  I read the great stories of that first party.

The first few years were tough… lots of rules…growing pains. This is not something unique to the S.C.A. I have seen it in many other organizations. Write it off to the human condition. I have gone to the Arts and Sciences and the Youth Arts and Sciences and as always I was blown away.  We have some of the most talented craftsmen and craftswomen, with research that is beyond compare.  If you missed it, I am sorry for you.  Fantastic!

We are a very talented bunch of people. Walk down the street and look at the new (old) camps growing going “Bigger and Period” and the vardos. The List of classes is AMAZING!  The people who had that college party fifty years ago would be shocked and awed.  But more than that, they would be proud that what they started that night has become this for they founded the SCA. Thank you.  You did good.

Lords and Ladies charge your glasses and raise them high. To the next 50 years, we will be a wonder!
